Graphite materials are widely used in many industries. For example, in our common battery, graphite itself is also an electrical conductor. In general, however, graphite is used more widely in lubricants and pencil leads. There are many types of graphite materials, such as graphite rods, graphite electrodes, graphite powder, graphite sheets, etc. Different graphite materials have been applied in different industries. What are the differences between graphite rods and graphite electrodes? Do you understand? Below the Graphite Tile manufacturers will come to share with you the difference between the two.
Graphite electrode, mainly made of petroleum coke and needle coke, coal tar pitch as binder, is prepared by calcination, compounding, kneading, pressing, roasting, graphitization and machining, and is released in the form of electric arc in electric arc furnace. The conductor that heats and melts the charge of the electric charge can be classified into ordinary power, high power and ultra high power according to its quality index. The main raw material for graphite electrode production is petroleum coke. The ordinary power graphite electrode can be added with a small amount of pitch coke. The sulfur content of petroleum coke and pitch coke cannot exceed 0.5%. Needle Coke is also required for the production of high power or ultra high power graphite electrodes. The main raw material for aluminum anode production is petroleum coke, and the control sulfur content is not more than 1.5% to 2%. Petroleum coke and pitch coke should meet the relevant national quality standards.
Graphite rods are non-metallic products. As a necessary pre-weld cutting consumable in carbon arc gouging cutting process, carbon, graphite and appropriate binder are extruded and baked at 2200°C. It is made of a layer of copper after the section. It is resistant to high temperature, has good electrical conductivity and is not easy to be broken. It is suitable for cutting metal into a shape that meets the requirements. Graphite rods are commonly used in electric heating bodies of high-temperature vacuum furnaces. The maximum operating temperature is up to 3000°C. It is easy to oxidize at high temperatures. In addition to vacuum, it can only be used in neutral or reducing atmospheres. Its thermal expansion coefficient is small, its thermal conductivity is large, its processability is better than that of SiC and MoSi2 rods, it is resistant to high temperature, it is extremely cold and extremely hot, and its price is cheaper.
In fact, in a word, it can be said that the main difference between the graphite rod and the Graphite Electrode is that the graphite electrode has a lead-out conductor, and the graphite rod does not, so that the two have a great difference in the application industry. The performance of some products is similar. In many cases, we may not be able to distinguish clearly, so it is necessary to understand the characteristics of the product before purchasing. For the difference between graphite electrode and graphite rod, you should understand clearly, if you need to purchase related products, you can call us.
